Overview:

The Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Program is evolving to better secure government networks and systems. The CDM Program provides Federal Agencies with the capabilities, tools and ability to identify cybersecurity risks on an ongoing basis, prioritize these risks, and enable cybersecurity personnel to mitigate the most significant problems first.

CDM exists to improve government network security through delivery of comprehensive services and enhanced tools, as well as providing integrated reporting mechanisms for agency and government-wide dashboards.  It offers leading, commercial off-the-shelf tools to support technical modernization as threats change. Three Phases have been initiated to date: Phase I focused on ‘What is on the network’; Phase II ‘Who is on the network’; and now Phase III DEFEND ‘What is happening on the network.’
