When polled, DGI participants said, “the biggest challenge they face in securing their cloud environment is ‘a lack of skilled staff’.” Given this and the fact that “53% of cloud workloads are hosted on public clouds,” according to Palo Alto Networks’ David Kubicki, agencies can see how “dynamic, unpredictable, and complex” cloud security has become. According to Kubicki, this comes with a push from agencies to expand to the cloud because they are “building on new and existing products and services…with a desire to increase efficiency and agility.” In addition, cloud security impacts a wide range of agency assets – from data to applications and infrastructure. In this virtual workshop, government and private sector experts reviewed a number of key points, including:

• future of cloud security
• what a good cloud security looks like and 5 recommendations for cloud security
• key trends in and takeaways of organizations’ cloud migration journeys
• case study: Dept. of State building enterprise strength multi-cloud offerings
• how to meet multiple missions with secure cloud services
• how agencies can trust their cloud service providers
• how to increase skilled workforces
• overcoming non-IT user expectations with cloud services and security
• what changes are predicted for system owners and admins.
