Event Recap: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Records Management

Why care about digitizing records management? DGI event sponsor, Collabware reminds us that under government-wide policy M-19-21, “the deadline for agencies to transition their government records (and metadata) management entirely into an electronic environment is by the end of 2022. NARA will stop accepting new paper records after this time.” The M-19-21 directive is intended to “help the government transition fully to electronic records for increased efficiency, accuracy, and improved storage.” With this ambitious goal and deadline quickly approaching, DGI brought together internal and external experts to discuss how to utilize AI and Machine Learning (ML) to help make this transition easier for agencies.
Topics included:
- NARA M-19-21
- Digitization of AI to deliver mission outcomes
- Modernizing records management with intelligent automation
- Auto-categorizing: Examples of applying AI to records management
- Impact of new data types on AI and ML
- Text classification for records management
- Lawyers, records managers, and the imperative of technological change: Seen through the lens of the civil-rights implications of AI
