Get It Right Once: FADGI Image Quality Without Risking Fragile Records

Under 36 CFR 1236 Subpart E, a digitized permanent record only counts if it meets FADGI’s measurable image quality benchmarks. For aged and fragile originals, how a document is handled during capture decides whether you hit those benchmarks on the first pass or damage the original chasing a rescan. This session shows why handling damage and failed validations compound with every rescan, and how to match the capture method to the condition of your collection so you get it right once. Attendees leave with practical questions to ask of any digitization workflow, in-house or through a vendor.
