Event Recap: Electronic Record Transfer To NARA

Primary challenges with electronic records transfer, according to Robert Wilds from Hyland, include the “M-23-07 Mandate…the volume of existing paper and digital documents…Legacy systems and siloed systems and apps.” To address these problems, Sean Phuphanich of Public Sector AWS reminded us that we need “something that is easily scalable, something repeatable across a number of agencies…and that would be approved by NARA.” Peter Boulton with Pagefreezer added that there are also ways to collect, organize, and archive data around online sources, such as websites, social media, and… collaboration platforms, Microsoft Teams, chat, and other platforms like Slack”. To further aid in “large records management deployments as well as records information management and data governance,” Feith Systems’ James Jones spoke to the “intricate and complex world of declassified file transfers.” On Dec. 7th, DGI convened a number of industry experts who addressed the following (and more) in the conference:
