The biggest success factor to “cloud utilization is culture,” said Rob Leahy at NASA. Wyn Elder at Box emphasized that point when he suggested that “agency mission happens first and foremost [with] its people…they are the heart of any government agency.” Furthermore, Elder added that “employees need the right content to accomplish their mission.” Given the fact that Federal agencies have increasing challenges with content, such as “100,000+ unmanaged ‘free’ cloud accounts attached to government emails,” cited Tom Cowles at Box, and the need for heightened Zero Trust, the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) began in 2011 to ensure the security of cloud services used by the U.S. Government. “FedRAMP is a lot like a bank…they provide security, trust and guidance,” stated Jeffrey Young at Adobe. With that, DGI kicked off 2023 by bringing together these esteemed SMEs and service providers to address topics that enable Federal Agencies to start and finish their FedRAMP journeys, such as:

  • what new FedRAMP legislation means
  • presumption of Adequacy Clause makes it easier to adopt security mandates
  • re-use of authorized products and services
  • FedRAMP tech’s relationship to Zero Trust
  • Shadow IT, fragmented content and increasing costs and complexity
  • DoD and NASA success stories.
