Event Recap: 2023 EDRM Conference

Where are government agencies on their mission to accomplish M-19-21 and M-23-07? DGI polled their audience prior to the conference on eDiscovery, Records & Information Management. Over half said they have not met their objectives or simply don’t know. 40% expect to meet their objectives by June 2024 and only 6% have met them to date. This still leaves a notable gap and opportunity for agencies to reach their targets. “Optimizing the eDiscovery process is essential for government agencies to fulfill their legal obligations,” according to Amy Hilbert with Casepoint, and doing so also solves “challenges related to FOIA/public records requests, congressional inquiries, investigations, and litigation.” With that in mind, “agencies also now need to consider dynamic online data from sources like websites, social media accounts, team collaboration tools, and text messaging services,” added Peter Boulton with Pagefreezer. In this conference, experts addressed a comprehensive set of topics planned to help agencies modernize and meet their mandates. They included:
• EDRM in 2023: Strategic Focus, Requirements, Technology, Process & People
• Onboarding a New eDiscovery Solution: The Basics
• The Implications of NARA Requirements
• NARA GRS Updates and Expanded Capstone Bulletin
• Increases in FOIA Requests
• Digitization Standards Update
• Managing Dynamic Online Data for eDiscovery & Other Use Cases
• The Need for Increased Transparency
• Managing Office 365
